This organization was created in
the memory of Diane Maizlish, a true inspiration and fighter, to fill a
void in the medical system
by directly working with cancer patients to assist them in
obtaining access to support and resources in the local area.
Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in
2000, Diane Maizlish made a decision to fight the disease with full
force from the first day. At the same time, she refused to let the
cancer and it's numerous health complications stop her from living
life to it's fullest. She believed that the quality of a life is
more important than the length of a life. Her strength, upbeat
attitude, and overall approach to life has been an inspiration to
more people than can be counted.
This Quality of Life approach is
the backbone philosophy of Memorial Cancer Support Services.
Physicians and the general medical provider system treat patients
for an illness or disease. Memorial Cancer Support Services assists
patients to move up to being treated as people with a primary
emphasis on Quality of Life.
Entirely
staffed by volunteers including cancer patients and family members,
we provide one-on-one personal support, group support, and resources
directly for the person fighting cancer and their family and
friends.
We encourage you to use the
resources available here online and to contact
us with any needs or questions you may have.
